Credit Risk Manager | 1 Year Fixed Term Contract | West Yorkshire

HW Finance is currently recruiting for a Credit Risk Manager to support a client on a 12 month FTC.

Working closely with the commercial teams, you will be playing a key role in taking ownership of the function, managing the two analysts currently in situ. You will be leading the monthly Credit Risk Review Committee, overseeing customer credit assessments, as well as make critical decisions balancing out risk mitigation while supporting business growth.

In the role you will:

• Oversee credit reviews for Corporate, Commercial, Rental, and Fleet Managed customers, ensuring a balance between growth and risk management while maintaining Group-wide credit quality.
• Lead the preparation of the Credit Committee pack and manage reporting for the Credit Risk Committee, including sector and customer analysis.
• Drive credit risk strategy by implementing system improvements, automation, and process enhancements while overseeing the credit risk component of banking audits.
• Collaborate with Corporate, Commercial, and Rental teams to safeguard credit integrity, escalating critical issues to the board and engaging with executive leadership and key stakeholders on credit matters.
• Monitor customer portfolios for early signs of financial distress, conducting in-depth financial analysis to support complex credit decisions and assess macroeconomic impacts.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team of accountants and credit risk analysts while representing Credit Risk in external and board-level discussions.

This role is ideal for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in credit risk or a background in practice where you are proficient in model creation (e.g., Corporate Finance, M&A, or Insolvency) with strong model creation and risk exposure, you will be a confident communicator, driving clarity across key business risks and guiding senior management with your sound judgement.
