Effective Strategy

Recruitment Strategy Led to 10 Key Hires for HW Group

Enhanced Reporting

Introduction of New Reporting Standards

Headquartered in Leeds, the firm has expanded to multiple locations including London, Edinburgh, as well as international offices in Singapore and Hong Kong. With an ambitious growth strategy, the client reported a remarkable 43% year-on-year growth in their latest financial update (2024).

The Challenge

Rapid growth, driven by a series of mergers and acquisitions, has strained the internal departments and infrastructure, affecting the firm’s ability to maintain its high standards. This growth has led to challenges in integrating new businesses, meeting timely and accurate financial, regulatory and audit requirements and maintaining operational efficiencies within the Finance function.

Our Approach

HWIS was engaged to mobilise a team of Senior Finance Consultants to evaluate the Finance function and Business As Usual (BAU) status, ensuring the continuity of key dependencies and tasks while conducting a capability assessment of business needs. The focus areas included:

  • Financial Controls
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Tax Affairs
  • Financial and Regulatory Reporting

Subsequently, a new Target Operating Model (TOM) was designed to ensure the Finance function would be fit for future growth and sustainability.

Results

The six-month assignment resulted in the following successful outcomes:

  • Development of a fit-for-purpose TOM for the Finance Function
  • Creation of a recruitment strategy, resulting in the hiring of 10 new key roles by HW Group
  • Introduction of new reporting standards
  • Implementation of a robust governance framework, including policies, processes, and procedures
