HW Finance are working with a highly regarded business in Hull looking to add an Assistant Accountant to their team.

The Assistant Accountant will work as part of a small team and support the Senior Finance Manager with core accounting processes, reporting and controls. This role is suited to someone part way through their studies (ACCA/CIMA) and eager to learn and develop, with full study support on offer.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts including preparation of general ledger journals, P&L reviews, variance analysis, stock management, and KPI reporting.
• Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Developing and maintaining key business cost trackers to support effective financial control, including the production of related reports and analysis.
• Preparing key internal financial reports for individual sites and business units.
• Overseeing and supporting the Purchase Ledger function, including reviewing and posting purchase invoices prepared by Purchase Ledger Clerks, identifying process improvements, and providing higher-level support where required.
• Playing a key role in finance improvement projects, including the implementation of a Purchase Order system, integration of stock into the finance system, and an eventual transition to a new accounting package.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Studying towards ACA / ACCA / CIMA
• Good Excel skills and systems literacy (the business are due to go through a system implementation)
• Passion for process improvment and automation

What’s on offer: 

• Salary £35,000 – £40,000
